Making It Ours I

"I'll just change out these door knobs real quick," I thought.  Sigh.  Of course, what has always just taken a screwdriver this time took a chisel, a drill, a pencil, utility knife, a dowel, wood glue and a hammer.  Oh, and a Dremel tool for one of them. And about 5 times longer than anticipated. [shakes fist at sky]

That's the exterior, because the lighting was best.  The bathrooms have just a slot on the exterior and the bedrooms are plain, but otherwise the exact same profile..

They are in in and they all work and we like the way they look and feel, so it was worth it.  Plus, I got a new chisel!  Now I want to find similar pulls for the bi-fold closet doors... for less than $11/each like I saw at Ace Hardware in Missoula.  More good news: Missoula has a store similar to Portland's The ReBuilding Center called Home Resource so we can donate the used sets!  I also picked a few things up when I went on my recon mission a couple weeks ago.  Stay tuned for those projects.

  1. Isn't it amazing what a (sort of) simple change can do to perk up a home!? Love the new knobs!

    1. Thanks, Becky! I like 'em a lot, too. I notice them most when opening doors in the dark; they feel really nice in the hand.
